Residence - Hotel WordPress Theme

 



Installation
  • Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Select the Appearance panel, then Themes.
  • Select Add New.
  • Click the Upload Theme button.
  • Find the .zip file you downloaded after purchasing directly or from Creative Market after purchasing Residence.
  • Install, then activate.

Residence Requirements
Jetpack by WordPress.com is the only plugin required to make the most of Residence. You can download Jetpack through your WordPress Dashboard Plugins and search for Jetpack and install. You can also download Jetpack here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/

Setting up the Homepage slider
Once Jetpack has been activated, go to Appearance Customize and select Featured Content. Enter in 'featured' as the tag name. Posts now marked with the 'Featured' tag will be shown in the Homepage slider. Posts using the 'Featured' will need a Featured Image at the following resolution 1440x568 pixels.

Setting up the Homepage
Create a new page called 'Home'. Under the 'Page Attributes' module, select the 'Front Page' page template and publish. Next create a page called 'Blog' and publish. From here, go to Settings Reading and choose your Front page and Posts page and click the update button when done.
To finish setting up the homepage, under Appearance, go to Customize. From here you can choose your reservation and custom reservation link text for the button to the right of the logo. You can choose your Video Tour page that is below the primary page you set for the homepage as well as being able to set the 3 featured pages under the slider. Be sure to Save and Publish any changes.

Menu Setup
Residence supports 4 menu locations. Top menu, Primary menu, Footer menu, and Social Links menu. In your WordPress Dashboard, go to Appearance Menus. From here you can create these menus and choose the theme location for each menu. See below regarding setting the social links.

Social Links Setup
To setup your social links menu. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard. Go to Appearance Menus Create a new menu Name it social Check 'Social' under theme location. Finally, add custom links to your menu. Be sure to click the 'Save Menu' button to save your menu. Residence supports most social networks. If we are missing one, let us know in the comments.

Widgets
Residence supports 5 widget areas. Under Appearance Widgets, you'll see that the widget locations are labeled accordingly. The Footer widgets are optional.
